About Me

Hi there! My name is Jasmin and I am the owner/creator of Jasmin Blossom Counseling PLLC.

I officially started my counseling career back in 2020 after graduating from UNT. However, I have been interested in mental health ever since I was a teen! As the child of Indian immigrants living in America, I was in a constant battle between my Indian and American cultures. I was either “too white” for the brown kids or "too brown” for the white kids. It felt like any time I tried to show who I was, it was “wrong”. I felt stuck and alone.

Couple this with high cultural expectations (“Indians are good at math”, “You should be a doctor” - Newsflash: I suck at math and blood makes me queasy) and conflicting societal messages (“You should always listen to your parents no matter your age”, “But you’re [x] years old, do what you want!”). It developed the perfect recipe for major anxiety and depression.

Growing up, mental health was never talked about. “Only the body gets sick” or “Only Americans get mental issues” was the overall belief regarding mental illness. I grew up having to learn about the importance of mental health on my own. I questioned why we would feel so shameful towards something so typical. It also helped me realize why I felt so “different” from those around me and why I couldn’t be “better” or “enough” for any space.

This ultimately led me to my passion of wanting to work with minority communities, including the South Asian community, to grow more in their understanding of the importance of mental health and giving them the permission to be their own unique self. Whether you balance multiple identities or just feel “not enough” in the one you’re in, you still deserve a space to be you - unapologetically.

I have several years of experience in the field throughout different levels of care (ranging from inpatient all the way down to private practice) and specializations (such as eating disorders and trauma work) that I use to help me identify other’s therapeutic needs in a holistic manner. Through my practice, I hope to help others find their own peace while normalizing and de-stigmatizing mental health across cultures.
